I spoke at a round table organized by the Eurasian community of Tourism industry Specialists in the framework of the conference "Arctic 2019". For his part, he reviewed the world Arctic tourism and offered various options for its development in Russia.

Because, very often, we forget that the Arctic region consists of 28 large regions that are part of 8 nation States. And despite the fact that the population of these areas is approximately 0, 16% of the total population of the Earth, the contribution of the North to global GDP is almost 0.5%. In no other region of the world is economic activity more concentrated. The reason for this is the economic structure dictated by the climate, and similar for the entire region, despite the difference in jurisdictions. In the circumpolar regions, economies with one dominant activity (most often associated with the extraction of natural resources) and two or three "additional"ones are common. Alaska, Khanty-Mansiysk AO, Yamalo-Nenets AO and the Republic of Sakha-Yakutia are of the greatest economic importance among the 28 regions of the North. The total GDP of these four regions alone exceeds 60% of the total economic activity of the circumpolar regions of the Earth.

But while developing the Arctic mining industry, we forget that this is a unique region in its ecology and it can develop as a tourist.
