This is the first publication in this section and I would like to say a few introductory words-at least 6 of course, then they will be at the very end and no one will ever reach them or, when it comes, then read before it a lot. But still. Need to say. Maybe some day I'll move them to the beginning, or maybe I'll make a little book. So, why am I doing this column and putting together stories about things that are very dangerous, but which were previously publicly available and in demand? Well, apparently, because at some point, after Madame Curie discovered everything, and spent the Nobel prize money in the First world war on the creation of field x-ray machines and training military doctors to handle them, between the words "radiation" and "miracle" in society was put an equal sign. Radiation and its sources went out the door of the laboratories to become a store item. The miraculous power of radioactivity in the late nineteenth century, no one doubts. And the risks are known or were not at all, or greatly minimized. And it seemed that radioactivity is a long-awaited miracle for man, given to us for our suffering. This all led to the formation of a whole segment of the "industry on radium and natural uranium", which flourished in the period from 1905 to 1947. And then the radioactivity began to be used in medicine. Needles containing radium were used in brachytherapy, baths, drugs-hundreds of names. Implanted in the tumor, the needles allowed it to be destroyed. And then they found that if Uranus add to the pillow - then you can have a great sleep and do not suffer from pain, and if the condoms, then they will glow. It was a direct great craze of the thirties. Everyone in the world was convinced that radium and uranium had only a positive effect on health, wherever you put them. And now for some reason everyone forgot about it. And there is something to tell. And this is very instructive information. After all, around us and now a lot of things that seem wonderful to us. Ah and now – the first history from this rubric. The First Radioactive Incident. This is a lovely children's set Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab was produced for only a year: launched in 1950 and removed in 1951. Removed due to low sales. At a cost of 50USD, only the rich could buy it. The kit included four types of uranium ore, a source of beta and alpha radiation lead-210, a source of pure beta rays ruthenium-106, gamma emitter zinc-65, several adapted for children measuring instruments and a chamber with a short-lived isotope of polonium, decaying with the release of alpha rays. The Geiger counter was not included in the kit and was sold separately. This" state-of-the-art scientific kit "allowed"young researchers to conduct more than 150 exciting scientific experiments and join the most advanced field of science." A bomb to build, however, was not. But it wasn't bad. PS and a couple more things. 1. The network has manuals for this set and even fan sites. 2. Collectors have identified this set in a separate auction and now all released sets-collectible. But sometimes are sold. Look around if you're interested.
